The Great Tapestry of Scotland

- Creative Heritage Officer

The Great Tapestry of Scotland is the longest tapestry in the world. Designed by artist Andrew Crummie in collaboration with historian Alistair Moffat, it has been worked on by thousands of stitchers from all across the country. It tells the story of Scotland's history from the formation of the land in the prehistoric era to the re-convention of the Scottish Parliament in 1998, in 160 panels.

As Creative Heritage Officer I designed and delivered educational workshops, tours and teaching packs for Schools and community groups aiming to engage them in the arts, heritage and history of Scotland. Workshops used the Great Tapestry of Scotland as an anchor to demonstrate the use of narrative art as and education tool and the significance of using artworks to record history.

I also organised a programme of workshops and talks for the public promoting Scotland's industrial, arts and crafting heritage.
